Why buy a Genuine GM sump? Firstly This sump comes with a genuine GM gasket and bolts. If you were to buy these alone they would cost over $100. This sump also has a hassle free mounting point for your spin on oil filter. Many aftermarket sumps will need a separate oil filter mounting/relocation kit, which is another added cost. lastly, the GM designed sumps are made to add to the structural integrity of the block. So it does not make sense to weaken the engine design with a tin/fabricated sump.
